Why do people see the light at the end of the tunnel on dying? Is it is only the brain hallucinating, or is it something else?

Our brains have similar structure, and in the state of hypoxia we all have the same hallucinations.

Did you know that dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish?

Probably, all people experience this situation when dying, but the real question is what happens next. Light at the end of the tunnel doesn't impress me, if this is all that happens. It could be the brain hallucinating.
"Near death" is not the same as death.
