John 19:30
When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

What exactly was finished? Does Jesus declare His work is finished? Or is it something else?

The answer to the question is in John 19:27,28:
"Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home. After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst."

The phrase "It is finished" doesn't mean His whole work is finished, it is a reference to Christ's fulfillment of the prophecies concerning Himself until that time.
