There are theories that swastika originates from drawings of rotating comets viewed along its axis of rotation. There is also an association in ancient artifacts between the swastika and the owl feet that can leave swastika like foot-prints.

The word "swastika" comes from the Sanskrit svastika - "su" meaning "good," "asti" meaning "to be," and "ka" as a suffix.
It was used by many cultures in the past 3,000 years and represents life, sun, power, strength and good luck.
The left-handed Swastika is also associated with esoteric tantric practices. The right-handed Swastika is mainly used in Hindu temples, homes and sacred ceremonies.
